For a fact, 2015 is gone forever. It can not be bought, begged, coerced, threatened or ordered to come back (not by mere mortals anyway and frankly I can’t think of any reason why a “higher power” would bring it back, assuming the possibility even exists). I am thankful for lessons learned last year and for old and new friendships. That said, if you’ve got any unfinished business with 2015, I’d say it’s time to let go and take over 2016. I certainly plan to do just that.
Last year, like a lot of people, I wrote out goals and resolutions at the start of the year. I was able to follow through on some of them and I certainly achieved some of my goals. Not most of them, but some at least. Of course, I wish I could have achieved more than I did. Even so, I learnt how powerful it is to put ones goals in black and white and how important it is to determine the means to achieve them too.
I am no expert when it comes to setting goals and getting results but I am better at doing that today than I was yesterday; I’m definitely growing. Time does fly and before you know it, 2017 will be staring us down. We might as well make the most of 2016 while we’re here. Remember, time is invaluable and irreplaceable. That’s also true for some relationships, especially the one with our creator!
Lots of people make resolutions at the beginning of a new year. Lots of people don’t follow through with the resolutions they make, new year or not. Try not to be one of those people, please. Don’t follow the crowd by doing what most people do; it’s such a repetitive cycle. Make decisions that you have the will to follow through on and while you’re at it, be careful to surround yourself with positive thinkers not dream killers. It’s important to be around those that will build you up not tear you down. That’s what I have decided anyway.
This year, I refuse to be afraid or daunted. I choose to be better, to be true to myself. I choose to grow even more, there is still so much to learn. I choose to take responsibility for my own happiness. I choose to see and acknowledge beauty in its various forms. I choose to acquire and share knowledge. Most of all, I choose to share love. After all, I am a recipient of the greatest love ever!
I’m thankful for the beautiful moments I had in 2015 and for the ugly ones too. I’m especially thankful for all the people and events that made 2015 the year it was for me. It goes without saying that I wish you all the very best. Have an amazing 2016!!!
